5G and CBRS Hot Topics at Mobile World Congress in LA

At the end of October Valid8.com CEO Ian Carpenter attended the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Los Angeles. The 3-day event was well-attended and offered insights into the ever-evolving world of mobile connectivity. The exhibition highlighted cutting edge advances in virtual technology, robotics, and other areas that have embraced mobile technology with applications across a variety of industries.

As you might expect, 5G and IoT continue to be key topics where attendees are eager to gather as much information as possible.

In addition, the CBRS Alliance hosted an OnGo workshop and sponsored a pavilion of more than 30 member companies. The CBRS Alliance is driving LTE-based solutions to the Citizens Broadband Radio Service band, including certification programs for equipment and ensuring multi-vendor interoperability.

Interoperability was a key discussion point with various device manufacturers. These companies are actively developing new technologies to participate in the 5G network or CBRS band, but are struggling with either resource constraints or cost-effective access to networks to perform comprehensive performance, load and conformance testing.

Carpenter was excited to discuss Valid8's unique capabilities to emulate network and radio bands.

  • The testing requirements for CBRS B42/43 are a perfect fit Valid8’s M3 testing platform, which is designed to support testing over many bands, and unlike many other testing solutions, Valid8 delivers a turnkey technology, including SIM cards to test the UE CPE devices and a test core to easily simulate the network.
  • The 5G Network Emulator solution is capable of simulating network nodes and and testing devices individually or in parallel.

Valid8.com is uniquely positioned to help device manufacturers navigate the test process for their equipment in an efficient, flexible and cost-effective manner.
