Multi-Domain Mobile Network Testing with Valid8

We exhibited at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February. At the event, we shared the various capabilities and benefits of our Multi-Domain, Multi-Purpose, and Multi-Industry testing platform. For those of you that were not able to attend this year, we thought it would be worth explaining what we mean by Multi-Domain.

Mobile network testing isn’t just about testing 4G or 5G, or even 2G or 3G. With the evolution of mobile technology comes the introduction of MCPTT, MCDATA and MCVIDEO, Voice over LTE, and the introduction of the Internet of Things and cloud deployments.

In addition, WiFi, POTS, SS7, SIGTRAN and other technologies are not going away any time soon. Cable modems still have a VoIP option and landline phone networks will continue to exist.

Many operators and device manufacturers think they need a different testing tool for each of these, so they build a complex web of testing tools. Some of these are off the shelf products, some are open source technologies, some they may have built in house. This leads to different user interfaces, training manuals, and often products that are not supported, not upgraded or are soon to be no longer supported. This can create resource constraints on the testing side or the concern of a steep learning curve for any new staff.
