TSN Tester

Simulates and tests TSN network devices.

Overview

Valid8’s Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) test solutions enable simulation, load and conformance testing of network devices. Example of TSN networks include automotive (infotainment, ADAS, Diagnostics over IP (DoIP) ), telecom fronthaul or industrial automation (OPC UA over TSN) environments. Time is critical in TSN networks and therefore for real-time communication with precise time boundaries for end-to-end latencies, all devices need to be synchronized with a common time reference. GPS is costly and satellites are not always accessible to the device. Therefore time in TSN networks is usually distributed using the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol. IEEE 802.1AS is a focused subset of IEEE 1588 with sub-microsecond precision to support time synchronization over IEEE 802.11 WiFi

Why It’s Different

  • Scalable software-based architecture can run on a range of hardware from COTS and high-end customer provided hardware to Virtual Machines and the Cloud (e.g. Amazon AWS) for maximum versatility and performance
  • Web-based UI is easy to learn
  • HTTP API enable integration with automation test systems and other equipment
  • Stateful modeling provides accurate emulation of network elements

Features

  • TSN emulation of multiple talker or listeners
  • Mix of TSN and non-TSN traffic load generators on each port
  • Scalable across cores and machines
  • Constraints check
  • Ethernet 10M, 100M, 1G, 10G
  • Live capture and full protocol decode in Wireshark
  • Generate valid and invalid/negative messages and call-scenarios
  • Supports sending invalid responses including malformed, dropped and misordered packets

Subsystems

The Valid8 TSN tester is comprised of multiple subsystems that are available individually or in parallel, and are scalable to fit your needs. The individual emulators are controllable through their call controllers, and the traffic can be captured through use of a remote capture tool such as Wireshark.

KPIs
  • TSN-specific metrics and statistics measurements
  • Highly accurate timing measurements
Configurable Parameters
  • ‍Call session length
  • Concurrent calls/endpoints
